You can use the SmartServer to integrate and manage BACnet devices.  If you are using BACnet/IP devices, you can interface with them using the SmartServer's built-in BACnet driver and the built-in LAN and WAN Ethernet interfaces.  To communicate with a BACnet/IP device, follow these steps:

  1. Create a BACnet device interface (XIF) definition as described in (Optional) Creating a BACnet Device Interface (XIF) Definition.

  2. Create a device type definition for your device as described in Defining Device Types.

  3. Provision the device as described in Site Provisioning.

If you are using BACnet MS/TP devices, add an external BACnet/IP to BACnet MS/TP router and attach it to the same Ethernet channel as the SmartServer.  You can then communicate with the BACnet MS/TP device using the SmartServer's built in BACnet/IP interface through the LAN or WAN network.
